A sonata opens with structure. Everything the piece will do is stated in the first movement and stated plainly. This is that movement in ivory silk charmeuse. Boning runs vertical through the front and side panels, seams following the body rather than crossing it. The neckline is a sweetheart, cups molded, no straps to interrupt the shoulder. The hem dips to a point at center front and center back and sits below the natural waist, so the line continues past where a waistband would stop it.
Charmeuse over boning is a deliberate contradiction. A soft face on a hard frame. The sheen sits still where the panels hold it and moves where they release.
The back is laced. Metal grommets, self fabric ties, the placket left open behind them. Nothing is hidden. The way the piece fits is the way the piece is made. In ivory.

A smooth silk woven with a soft sheen on the face and a matte reverse. It falls close to the body, follows every fold and carries light along the length of the drape. It holds a pleat where it is gathered and lets go everywhere else. No stretch.
