The second movement answers the first by doing the opposite. Where the corset holds, this releases. One length of ivory silk charmeuse falling from the waist to the floor with nothing across it. No slit, no seam detail, no hardware. It skims the hip and continues, and the hem gathers slightly where it meets the ground.
Charmeuse carries light along the length of the fall. The shine is the only ornament, and it is not applied. It is the weave.
A column only works if nothing is added to it. Nothing is. In ivory.

Silk Charmeuse
A smooth silk woven with a soft sheen on the face and a matte reverse. It falls close to the body, follows every fold and carries light along the length of the drape. It holds a pleat where it is gathered and lets go everywhere else. No stretch.
