The term literally means "in the manner of the chapel," and this gown is that idea in ivory charmeuse. From the front it refuses every ornament. A clean boat neckline, long fitted sleeves finished with a simple split at the cuff, one uninterrupted column falling to a small train. No beading, no drape, no hardware, nothing to accompany the line, because the line is the whole performance. The back is where the voice opens. Below the shoulders the fabric releases into a deep cowl, swinging low past the waist in one soft fold, held only by fine self cords crossed over the bare back and tied in a small bow, ends left falling.
