Con Fuoco Dress

Con fuoco is the direction a composer writes when the notes alone are not enough: with fire. Until the waist, this gown refuses the instruction. The collar is a clean stand band closing at the nape, the bodice cut close and fully composed, shoulders bare, chest covered, the most disciplined opening in the drop. At the hip the marking takes effect. The charmeuse is wrapped and pleated into a draped sash, its folds fanning out from a single point at the side the way fire spreads from a struck match, and from there the skirt ignites: a slit rising to the top of the thigh, and a loose panel spilling past it into a short train that follows her like smoke. Red is the only colour this piece could ever have been. Discipline above, fire below, and the wrapped waist is the bar of the score where the direction appears.

STRETCH FACTOR: NO STRETCH

This piece holds its shape and has no give. The fit is precise by design, cut close to the body with minimal ease. If you prefer room, or you fall between sizes, take the larger size.
